Ski & Snowboard Training
Summer, the Best Time to Train
What do you do after April (or June – depending on your local ski resort)? What do you do when the snow is gone and your skis are packed away for the summer.
Well, a really cool thing to do is train with Virtual Snow. I had heard about Virtual Snow from a friend who told me about their step by step training so that you learned all the basics. That sounded good, cause I knew since I couldn’t ski double diamonds, or even single diamonds, that I had some missing pieces, I had gone by some gradient to learning how to ski and I always had the sneaky suspicion my well-meaning friends had given me some tips that really didn’t make me a good skier and probably were holding me back.
Then I found out that Virtual Snow has a simulator where you can practice and get the right stance and learn the basics at a even pace – I mean the carpet is even and thus I wouldn’t get caught up in all the variables of soft spring snow, or ice, or…… it sounded like a good idea.
And, it was April and the Southern California slopes were now closed for the season.
So, I called, made an appointment and got my introductory lesson.
I found my stance was off, and was parallel skiing on the carpet my first lesson. I was hooked and bought a 25 lesson package (at a discount, no less).
So, I spent the summer training my muscles on how to stand and how to balance and showed up the following Winter with renewed confidence and skill.
And, I didn’t have time to think how there was no snow and there was no where to ski, or contemplate taking a vacation in Australia just to wear my skis. I had my lessons.
I was preparing for the next season.
